Y5s in Quick Sticks Hockey Competition!

We were in the Shrewsbury Quick Sticks Hockey Competition on Wednesday 2nd May at Meole Brace secondary school.
At the start we were nervous as we had never practised quicksticks hockey before. The first half of the first game against Longden A team, was difficult as the other team were very good. They scored five in that first half. However, in the second half we were more used to it and  they were unable to score any more!
We went on to win our next match 4-0, and we then had a nervous wait until we found out whether we were in the semi final or not.......
Guess what? We were through!
We played Mount Pleasant and after an exciting match we won! We were through to the final, we couldn't believe it! We played against Longden again but this time we had improved! They found it harder to score this time, only able to score three.
We were runners up in the competition and we were all thrilled!
By Callum and Liam.

We were both so proud of all the children who took part in the hockey tounament. Due to lack of experience of the sport the Greenfields players did enter the tournament full of enthusiasm but with little aspiration as to any results, just willing to 'give it a go'! They exhibited fantastic team spirit and sporting attitude towards the other schools' participants and the sport itself. Following an initial difficult first half, they persevered and their ability continued to improve considerably very quickly and throughout the whole afternoon.
All their natural ability shone through and they did Greenfields proud by reaching the final.
Well done to all!
Mrs Robinson and Mrs Hoult (the gaffers!).
